About

Artist Statement

My work embraces a Do It Yourself aesthetic and is influenced by transgressive practices like drag and experimental music, and references science fiction, 70’s and 80’s fashion, magic and the occult, seapunk, witch-house and other subcultures. These inform my visual and aural language, and I relate them to broader concepts of entropy, dissonance and gender. When exploring a certain theme, I choose the media that will communicate it most effectively. As my concepts become more complex and multilayered so do the works themselves, often resulting in mixtures of sound, video, textile and sculpture. The process of experimentation and mixing media is pivotal to my practice and reflects my DIY attitude.
